Prayer for Today
It is appropriate
that we should pause to pray
and light a candle,
an offering of our lives;
a witness to all who pass by
that our Church
is a place of prayer.
As years flow into years,
Jesus you have stayed close to us
and have been our source of strength
in times of change and challenge.
Continue to hold hope
and light before us
as we move into new centuries
and walk home to you,
our destiny and glory forever.

Faith
Faith awakens courage,
becomes daring,
enriches our inner life,
fosters higher ideals,
encourages wider vision
makes us alert to all opportunities
"Faith will turn any course
light any path,
relieve any distress
bring joy out of sorrow,
peace out of strife,
friendship out of enmity
heaven out of hell.
Faith is God at work

How Great Is Your Goodness
How great is your goodness,
dear Lord!
Blessed are you for ever!
May all created things praise you,
O God,
for loving us so much
that we can truthfully speak
of your fellowship with mankind,
even in this earthly exile;
and however virtuous we may be,
our virtue always depends
on your great warmth
and generosity,
dear Lord.
Your bounty is infinite.
How wonderful are your works!

Meditation
This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations
that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces effects
far beyond our capabilities.
We cannot do everything,
and there is liberation in realising that.
This enables us to do something,
and to do it very well.
It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning,
a step along the way,
An opportunity for the Lord’s grace
to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the end results,
but that is the difference
between the master-builder and the worker.
We are the workers, not master builders;
ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.
Archbishop Romero

Slow Dance
Have you ever watched
kids on a merry-go-round,
or listened
to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed
a butterfly’s erratic flight,
or gazed
at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down,
don’t dance too fast,
time is short,
the music won’t last.
Do you run through
each day on the fly,
when you ask, “how are you”
do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed,
with 600 chores
running through your head?
You better slow down,
don’t dance too fast,
time is short
the music won’t last.
Ever told your child,
we’ll do it tomorrow,
and in your haste
not see the sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
let a friendship die,
‘cause you never had time
to call and say Hi?
You better slow down,
don’t dance too fast,
time is short
the music won’t last.
When you run so fast
to get somewhere
you miss half the fun
of getting there.
When you worry and hurry
through your day,
it’s like an unopened gift
thrown away.
Life is not a race,
do take it slower,
hear the music
before the song is over

Ár nÁthair
Ár nAthair,
atá ar neamh,
go naofar d'ainm,
go dtaga do ríocht,
go ndéantar do thoil ar an talamh,
mar a dhéantar ar neamh.
Ár n-arán laethúil tabhair dúinn inniu,
agus maith dúinn ár bhfiacha,
mar a mhaithimidne dár bhféichiúna féin,
agus ná lig sinn i gcathú,
ach saor sinn ó olc.
Amen.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father
Who art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be don on earth
as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temtation
but deliver us from evil
Amen

Meditation for the Day
Our lives are a preparation
for something better to come.
God has a plan for our lives
and it will work out,
if we try to do God's will.
God has things planned for us,
far beyond what we can imagine now.
But we can prepare ourselves
so that we will be ready
for the better things to come.
Now is the time for discipline and prayer.
The time of expression will come later.
Life can be flooded through and through
with joy and gladness.
So we can prepare ourselves
for those better things to come.
